tfw work is stressful so they fire you 😚✌️
Well, I didn’t expect to be back in your inbox so soon but here we are. (Special thanks to the anon birdie who tipped me off about this story!)
Let’s talk about the YesMadam firings.
YesMadam is an Indian tech company that connects beauty service providers with clients for in-home services.
So, for example, if you wanted your nails done at home instead of at a salon, you could do it through YesMadam.
Love that 💅 Less stress, ya know?
But yesterday, a screenshot of an email started making the rounds and it’s a really bad look for the company.*
Based on what we know from the email, YesMadam employees were asked to complete a survey about stress at work.
"Siri, please define ‘deeply value and respect’”
So they did.
And the people who reported significant stress at work were terminated effective immediately.
You can’t have work stress when there’s no work to be stressed about!
The cherry on top is that this notification went out to ALL employees.
I mean…at least they weren’t trying to hide their decision from the whole company/world?
I think I speak for all of us when I say:🖕🖕
I’m not buying it.
Occam’s Razor states that the simplest solutions are usually correct – and it’s more common for companies to engage in super shitty firing practices than super risky publicity stunts.
If there’s a lesson to be learned from this story (so far), I guess it’s that you shouldn’t be honest on employee surveys?
